The Lancaster Model was developed by Kath Lancaster, driven by her insights, experience, strong belief and motivation to support healthcare providers to revitalise teams and achieve better outcomes for children, young people and their families.

The Lancaster Model

Kath is the Managing Director of  both Kath Lancaster Consultancy Ltd (where she created The Lancaster Model) and Integrated Digital Healthcare Ltd who had the role of progressing the model to a digital format, now know as “The TLM Portal.”

Kath is first and foremost a nurse, with over 28 years’ experience working in both acute and community nursing environments, progressing from a practitioner to a visionary national strategic leader.

Her vast experience includes working as Senior Lecturer and course leader for the Specialist Public Health Community Nursing (SCPHN) Course at Leeds Beckett University, practising as an Independent Nurse Consultant and supporting the development of government policies and directives in a national nurse advisory role.

She holds a BSc(Hons) in Community Nursing/SCPHN, MSc in Advanced Nursing Practice and Advanced Diploma in Mentorship MSc Level.

Outside of work she enjoys keeping healthy and fit, spending time with her husband and 3 grown up children and looking after her grandson.

Integrated Digital Healthcare Ltd (IDH)

The company was formed in 2014, to provide a secure online solution to deliver “The Lancaster Model”, this innovative app is called “The TLM Portal”. The senior team of IDH are: Kath Lancaster, Managing Director, Jonathan Round, Finance Director and John Hildreth, Business Director.

Jonathan Round

Jon is a chartered accountant who runs his own accountancy practice based in Harrogate. The business has been established for 15 years looking after clients from a variety of backgrounds and geographies. Prior to this Jon worked at PwC, Thistle Hotels and Aviva within accountancy.

Jon’s interest became focussed in learning more about The Lancaster Model as TLM was a client at the practice. Once he saw what the benefits of the model and what it could do for children he wanted to have a more active role and get involved with something that could have such a wider societal benefit.

His role in Integrated Digital Healthcare Ltd involves the preparation of the financial accounts, budgeting and financial strategy of the business to support wider access across the UK.

Outside of work he is a keen sportsman, particularly racket sports, and has also played chess for Yorkshire at county level.

John Hildreth

John is an experienced Management Consultant working on a wide range of projects around People and Change. His track record cuts across several business areas in both Public and Private sectors. He has worked with Kath and IDH in the development of the business from the very early days to the current programme of work.

Christine Mclean

Christine is first and foremost a nurse with many years’ experience delivering wide ranging health care interventions in inner cityLeeds.

Over the last seventeen years her career has taken her into senior award-winning development roles in NHS service improvement and change management; leading a team to receive an award for being the first of its kind in the county. She designs and supports change management projects across the country for public and private sector industries, lectures on NHS leadership for the Leadership Academy and Open University, and speaks nationally on resilience, motivational interviewing and effective communication in organisations using neuro linguistic programming.

Chris has worked with Kath to help deliver the change management process which is one of the key elements to “The Lancaster Model” being successfully implemented

In her spare time, she is a keen vintage car enthusiast and part owns a 1960s MG Midget and an Austin A40 Farina

Barbara Donalson

Barbara has worked for the past 25 years within the Health and Wellbeing environment. Her career has included working as a Lecturer in Further education, running her own business and working for Johnson & Johnson, the worlds largest healthcare company in business development, sales & marketing and latterly as the UK Patient Engagement and Advocacy Manager where she worked with many of the UK’s health and care charities developing initiatives to improve outcomes for patients focussing in a variety of clinical areas including Diabetes, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Hepatitis C and Mental Health.

Barbara works currently with Kath and IDH Ltd to create a range of new Health Improvement Initiatives that will continue to support all users of The Lancaster Model to deliver better outcomes. She is also the Compliance Officer for IDH Ltd.
Outside of work, she is a keen gardener, enjoying cooking with homegrown ingredients. She is also a committee member of her local branch of the RNLI and supports events and fundraising.

Lucie Coles

Lucie has previously progressed a career in the Wholesale Fashion and Sports sector, supporting a variety of commercial projects and nurturing business relationships with overseas manufacturers, key retail clients and Licensors. This valuable experience and organised approach to business has provided Lucie with an invaluable and transferable skill set to implement the training and support within TLM. Having taken time out to look after a young family but still wanting a work/life balance Lucie was keen to get involved with TLM especially with its company ethics and achievements closely aligned to her own. Within the Training and Support Role Lucie is continuing to develop close business relationships with each Trust from the Regional Administrators to nurses, ensuring they have the relevant support and training within their individual portals. This might be answering the day to day queries or discussing how to run specific reports utilising the invaluable data the system provides.

Apart from looking after a family, Lucie loves to spend her downtime keeping active in the gym, cycling and walking in the Peaks.

Integrated Digital Systems Ltd (IDS)

Integrated Digital Systems Ltd (IDS) IDS provide expertise in the design, development and integration of Enterprise level and SaaS software solutions. IDS have offices in Leeds, San Francisco and Minsk, employing a large team of Business Analysts, Software Engineers, Security Specialists, Quality Assurers and Designers. Clients that IDS work with include the NHS, Vodafone, Nationwide and KPMG. IDS worked directly with Kath Lancaster and IDH Ltd to develop the TLM Portal, which enables the delivery of the health needs assessment component of The Lancaster Model. The management of the Portal includes working closely with IDH Ltd and end users, listening to feedback and ideas. Following this process allows for continual development to ensure great user experiences and ultimately better outcomes for children, young people and their families.
